Navigating Blogs

I'm wondering if at some point we'll get the chance to discuss how to navigate the world of blogging. I would like to know if there are ways to evaluate the credibility of a blog or to gauge readership/audience/popularity. It's hard to wade through all of this information and not necessarily know where it comes from or who is behind it.
