This new online course offers a hands-on introduction to digital literacy. It familiarizes participants with the rapidly growing user-oriented possibilities of the Internet. It will focus on Blog sites, audio and video podcasts, and how to get them online. Structured as a workshop, this course enables one to learn the technology hands-on while getting acquainted with the exciting world of Web 2.0 and social media. Over the course of one semester we will produce and publish short videos, create our own Wiki, and practice social bookmarking. Further, we will learn how to find our own audiences and develop a critical understanding of social media, Internet culture and its educational possibilities.
The couse will be conducted online and is available for asynchronous participation. Classes and assignments will be conducted on a weekly basis, i.e. Wednesday’s from 7.30pm-9.30pm and can be attended synchronously or later depending on the learning level of each participant.
